I’m Christophe Galati (@ChrisDeneos), the developer of Save me Mr Tako. Nice to meet you! For those who don’t know me, I’m a 23-year-old French indie game developer who once got a vision of a game with an octopus character after eating takoyaki the year of the Game Boy’s 25th anniversary. It’s my first time writing for the Nicalis blog, and a good way to start 2018.

First of all, a few words about when the game will be releasing. Nicalis expected to release it in 2017 at first, but the game has so much content that it took much longer than they originally expected to playtest it. We want to release the game as perfect as it can be, so we took the time to make sure everything worked perfectly on the Switch and PC. Now the game is going through Nintendo’s submission process, so it will be released as soon as possible early this year.

To thank you for your patience, here’s a surprise for you. Working with Nicalis, we’ve implemented a variety of screen display options. In addition to 16:9 widescreen mode and the classic 4:3 display, you can also play in “windowed” mode (in either aspect ratio) with 10 different backgrounds to choose from!

I’ll be revealing many other surprises in a series of posts I intend to write on this blog in the coming weeks. I also plan to write a “post mortem” after the game is released to tell you all about the game’s development and the journey that Mr Tako and I have taken.

I want to wish you all a happy new year! I was able to hit all my goals in 2017, and the first one I have for 2018 is to bring you this game!

That’s all for today. Stay tuned for my next post: an introduction to the world of Tako-San!
